What Exactly is Wind Energy?
Wind energy is a way of generating electricity using the wind. We harness the power by making tall turbines with big propellers that are turned by the blowing wind, these spinning propellers then turn a shaft connected to a generator and produces electricity. The bigger wind turbines are generally 20 stories high, have 200 feet long blades, and produce enough energy to power 600 homes. People can also get smaller wind turbines that can power individual homes. Wind turbines are usually set up in tens to hundreds at windy sites and generate a whole lot of energy.
